The Paper Fern Studio started, as many art businesses do, with a lifelong hobby. I can't remember a time in my life before drawing. I had the great fortune to grow up surrounded by artists of different kinds.

I was always told to create what I wanted to see in the world. At Paper Fern Studio I strive to provide a different sort of watercolor experience that honors my love for science illustration as well as whimsy by using precise techniques to achieve realistic likenesses of my subjects, while placing them into unlikely scenarios. I like to pay homage to the often underappreciated native flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest such as banana slugs and spiders, and I hope that my work gives people a renewed admiration for the nature around them.
